Looking for the best weekend part-time jobs? In this article, we’ll share some ways to make more money that I personally used to earn some extra money on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
Regardless of your education, work experience, or personal interests, you can find easy and good weekend jobs that will work for you.
Let’s face it, if you are a beginner wanting to improve your personal finances, there are plenty of resources available on how to create a budget and save money through frugality.
The real question: Should spending less money be your top priority?
While you will definitely need a budget to keep an eye on where your money is going, remember that cutting your expenses only looks at one side of the equation. Eventually, you’ll come to learn that finding ways to make more money through side gigs is easier than trimming your budget.
Here are some weekend job ideas for you to consider.

Good Weekend Jobs That You Can Do Part-Time
Apart from part-time jobs and office work, I learned how you can put your skills to good use. Technical skills are always needed.
Whether you can learn how to become a good graphic designer or a photographer, you can pursue your interests and have a source of income as you work your way to bigger things.
If you want some lucrative ideas for online weekend jobs, here’s what worked for me to find easy and good weekend jobs:
Freelancing (Monetize Your Skills)
Freelancing is one of the best modern discoveries to have helped society in a more futuristic manner.
Fiverr, Freelancer.com, and Upwork are just some of the examples of online sites where you can both buy and sell services that can really pad your bank account.
Typical transactions include website developers finding clients that need quick, easy sites to digital marketing, software development, photography, music-making, catering, and even running errands for people!
Another way to market your services is by engaging your followers on social media. The earning possibilities are endless!
1. Freelance writing
As a sophomore in college, I effectively increased my wage by 150% by writing freelance articles during the slow hours of my summer job on campus.
Rather than reading a book or playing games online, I wrote short SEO-friendly articles for a digital marketing agency. There are basic requirements for each article, such as a minimum word count, number of website links, and specific phrases you need to use.
I wrote articles on a wide range of topics including:
- Home alarm systems
- Granite countertops
- NASCAR race tracks
- Nutrition supplements
Although my compensation was modest (about two cents per word), you can earn more by specializing in a niche like law, medicine, or finance. To get started, you can typically find gigs on websites like Fiverr, Upwork, and even Craigslist.
Entrepreneurship (Monetize Your Hobbies)
Another job that you could do part-time on Saturday or Sunday is turning your hobbies into a weekend paycheck.
The best part is that you get to do what you love and get paid for it.
A little extra cash for doing something you enjoy is a great idea. Here are some more ideas for you to start making extra money on the weekends.
2. Baking
First off, you will want to make sure it is legal in your state to sell baked-goods that you made at home. Be sure to check cottage food laws as they vary by state. Next, you’ll want to start creating goods and sell them to earn an income on the weekend. Once you have your goods, you can start selling your homemade goods from your close family, relatives, and friends.
You can increase orders by taking to social media and posting your delicious treats online. With time, you can even turn into a full-time baker if you wanted too. Even if you are not a chef in the kitchen, you can definitely earn a good amount of money with this idea.
3. Handyman/woman
Another idea is to get your hands dirty and list your services on Craigslist as a handyman or woman. You can also put together a website, design and print advertising materials to hand out, print yard signs, put a sign on your truck or vehicle or use social media. Legally, a person using this hustle to make money can do repairs all day long. You can do jobs like maintenance, power washing or staining decks, trash hauling, painting, or furniture and cabinet assembly. Expect to make around $50 per hour, but this hourly rate depends on the job at hand.
4. Signup Bonuses
This is one of the easiest ways to earn some extra money with little work on your part and can become a home-based weekend gig. Banks are willing to pay $50 sign-up bonuses or more for opening a new credit card, checking account, or savings account.
The process is simple:
- Open a new account (this may require a visit to the bank)
- Complete the minimum spending or transactions
- Wait for 4-6 weeks to receive your bonus
For example, SoFi pays up to $300 in free cash when you set up qualifying direct deposits. You earn up to 4.50% APY on savings and 0.50% APY on checking with zero fees.
You get paid early, enjoy free ATMs nationwide, and never worry about overdraft fees. It is a fast and easy way to earn cash and grow your balance in one app built for smart money.
How Payouts Work: When your qualifying direct deposit hits (minimum of $1,000), SoFi credits your bonus right away so you can spend or save it immediately.
• Earn up to $300 cash bonus when you set up direct deposit
• Get paid up to two days early with no monthly or overdraft fees
• Earn up to 4.50% APY and manage all your money in one app
As you can tell from the last step, this isn’t a “get quick cash” scheme. Check the terms of the offer to understand how long it takes before the bonus hits your account – but it does work!
If you’re looking something more “quick” here are some popular signup bonuses that are conveniently still active:
Freecash is a free app that pays you cash for completing offers, testing apps, surveys or trying games and you can cash out instantly (same day).
New users get a $5 sign-up bonus, and many hit $10-20 in earnings within the first hour.
Legit platform that has paid out over $50M to users so far, and I personally use it daily.
Overall, the difficult part of making money with this online weekend gig strategy is continually finding new offers. Watch your mailbox and email inbox for offers.
There is also a large community of individuals who are passionate about making money this way. Visit the Churning subreddit and see if there are offers that make sense for you!
5. Blogging
I earned my first dollar on the internet during high school after starting a basketball-related blog with a friend. It was the “Wild Wild West” of the internet back then, and the money I earned paled in comparison to the amount of time I spent on the site after school. Fortunately, these days you can find many resources to help you get started quickly.
Making money with blogging could justify a whole article (or an encyclopedia) of its own. There are many ways to monetize your blog:
- Affiliate marketing (commissions)
- Banner advertisements (Google AdSense)
- Information marketing (eBooks, courses)
You can get started with blogging without spending a lot of money. If you think you can be a good blogger, you should try running a blog because that can help you earn a lot without having to do much. You can not only generate money from generating more traffic to your blog but you can also make value from your digital real estate.
The more value your blog has, the more people would want your blog to mention them in it. Advertising for clients is a great way to make quick bucks without even doing anything. Since recent digital trends require a lot of generic interest, companies and advertisers are always fighting for the more far-reaching digital real estate to put their advertising on display.
If you start blogging early on in college and continue at it, by the time you graduate you might even be able to consider becoming a full-time blogger! Blogging really pays.
Choose a niche that you are passionate about. Set up a WordPress blog and buy your own domain name. Consistently create valuable content. Find ways to promote your blog through social media and search engines. Monetize your traffic and profit!
6. e-Commerce Store
Over the past two years, two of my friends have quit their full-time jobs – one as a software developer and the other as a marketing manager – to focus on building e-commerce stores. Both started their stores on Shopify (offering a 14-day free trail) while still working, and only made the leap after scaling the store to a full-time income.
It doesn’t take a full-time commitment to start an online store, though. I’ve been able to generate income in just a few hours a week.
You have a few different options to source your products (I have personally used the last two):
- Create your own products
- Use a print-on-demand service to create custom clothing items
- Dropship items from Alibaba or the manufacturer
The basic process consists of three steps: set up a store in a specific niche, select profitable products, and promote to a target audience with paid social media ads. It can take time to find a winning product, but you can quickly scale your sales after finding the right offer.
7. Consulting or Coaching
Believe it or not, you don’t need years of experience in a field before you can start offering consulting services. All you need is unique skills, knowledge, and experience that you can provide to others.
As a student, I offered “online marketing consulting” to a small business owner who ran a clothing boutique. For this particular client, my consulting services involved writing copy, designing a new logo, and updating their website.
Many individuals and businesses are looking for independent consultants or coaches to help them out. This could include:
- Managing a store’s social media or SEO strategy
- Helping a client lose weight or quit smoking
- Teaching classes about personal finance
With a little creativity, the list goes on. Identify unique skills and expertise that you can share with others. Create a website with a portfolio and testimonials, ask family or friends for possible referrals, or list your services on a site like Upwork!
